Explanation of related arts classes

6th Grade: In 6th grade students are offered the following choices for related arts: band, chorus, music, team time, academic enrichment, art, teen living, foundations of technology, study enrichment, computers, and physical education.  Band, chorus, and academic enrichment are full year courses.  Academic enrichment is for a full year and focuses on making students successful in all classes by having a smaller setting to work on study skills, reading enrichment, math enrichment, and test taking strategies.  Team time and study enrichment are semester courses; in team time, students work on character education, study skills, and reading enrichment.  Study enrichment is mainly an enrichment class for working on homework and some study skills.  The remaining courses are 9 week courses and are basic introductions into the related arts.

 

7th Grade: In seventh grade, students are offered the following related arts choices: Latin, band, chorus, music, academic enrichment, art, teen living, foundations of technology, study enrichment, computers, reading enrichment, and physical education.  Band, chorus, and academic enrichment are full year courses.  Academic enrichment is for a full year and focuses on making students successful in all classes by having a smaller setting to work on study skills, reading enrichment, math enrichment, and test taking strategies.  The remaining courses are 9 weeks courses and are introductions into the related arts. 

 

8th Grade: In eighth grade, students are offered the following related arts choices: French, band, chorus, music, computers, academic enrichment, art, teen living, foundations of technology, study enrichment, social studies enrichment, writing enrichment, and physical education.  Band, chorus, and academic enrichment are full year courses.  Academic enrichment is for a full year and focuses on making students successful in all classes by having a smaller setting to work on study skills, reading enrichment, math enrichment, and test taking strategies.  The remaining courses are 9 weeks courses and are related to the selected course topic.
